  • As a general rule, to make a color plural, add an -S to the end of the masculine or feminine form of the word. You will want to use the plural form when talking about a noun that is plural (les cheveux noirs - the black hair; "hair" is plural in French).
  • HOWEVER: please note that the plural forms of "orange" and "marron" DO NOT have an "-S" added to the end. All feminine, masculine, plural, and singular forms of these two adjectives are "orange" and "marron".
  • To talk about someone's hair color, don't say "marron" for brown. Instead say "brun"(m) or "brune"(f). For blond, you say "blond" (m) or "blonde" (f). For red hair you say "roux" (m) or "rousse" (f).
